Morimatsu LifeSciences is pleased to announce that its near-term, long-term, and net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets have been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This milestone reflects the company's commitment to addressing climate change through science-based action and aligns its decarbonization strategy with the latest climate science. The validated targets are consistent with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C and support the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a globally recognized organization established through a collaboration among CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). SBTi provides companies with standards, guidance, and independent validation to ensure that corporate emissions reduction targets are aligned with climate science, making it a leading benchmark for sustainability and climate action worldwide.

Net-Zero
Morimatsu LifeSciences has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its value chain by 2050.
Near-Term
Using 2024 as the base year, the company has established the following science-based targets: By 2035, reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions (direct emissions and indirect emissions from purchased energy) by 63.0%. During the same period, reduce the GHG emissions intensity associated with Scope 3 categories, including purchased goods and services and the use of sold products, by 66.4%.
Long-Term
By 2050, reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 90.0%, while reducing the GHG emissions intensity of key Scope 3 categories—including purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, business travel, and the use of sold products—by 97.0%.
To achieve these targets, Morimatsu LifeSciences has established a comprehensive decarbonization roadmap. Key initiatives include conducting regular organizational carbon inventories, advancing green manufacturing processes and energy-efficiency improvements, increasing the use of clean energy through projects such as on-site solar installations, and continuously exploring new technologies and operational approaches to reduce energy consumption and emissions. At the same time, the company is working closely with key suppliers to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions intensity of purchased goods and services, supporting the low-carbon transformation of its supply chain and creating long-term value across the broader ecosystem.
